New Imperial Guard Valkyrie- Photo!

Ok, not sure if this is the 1st sighting of the actual new Imperial Guard Valkyrie, but it is for me. This is straight out of the new White Dwarf..which seems to go from the printers, to my house, then to everyone else. Anyway I saw the chance to post something relevant about 40K that I like and I jumped at it. so enjoy...this baby could get me to get back into the game..you just never know as I know I am getting one of these. FYI White Dwarf 350 is Apocalypse overload..Super Heavies everywhere with the biggest freaking battle reports I have ever seen. Go and get it!

Edit: -Numerous people want to claim that this is the Forge World model, maybe so and if so then GW is purposely misrepresenting this. (for what reason I'd have no idea) Beneath this photo is a blue box of text with a bunch of info about the new Imperial Guard codex that last line of which is. "To whet your appetites until then, here is exclusive look at the brand new plastic Valkyrie, in the Codex for the 1st time"- why the hell would they say that if this is the FW model? , case closed -this is the new model.

Text of the article for the naysayer's out there..

Edit II: And finally here's the full page, for all the imbeciles, morons and fucktards out there in the void that think I "made this all up" this as a 'stunt' to get more hits on my hobby site that I sell ZERO ad space on ( and won't ever).

FYI- I am often privy to alot of GW information early, and I shared this thinking people would be psyched. What I got in return was a bunch of jackass's critizing my motives, and insisting its the Forge World model. (maybe it is, i don't know, or care- all I know is what the ad claims before you., That it's the new plastic model)

Certainly makes me reconsider what I share with the general public. I have to look into finding a way to privately share information with people that follow the blog and have a genuine interest in the hobby, instead of those whose genuine interest is acting like a fucking moron on the internet.

Edit III- 2/15/09

Here's another pic GW just sent me via the newsletter, I believe this is the same aircraft in the above WD photo (if not they are painted identically) again the new Plastic Valkyrie.

Looks pretty awsome, Do you live next door to the printing office, I've only had my Febuary issue 2 weeks :S. Looks an awsome model though might buy one just for that sake of it

I think the UK ones are printed in Poland. Either way, six months after I moved house they're still being sent to my old address. Grrr.

- This pic makes me happy.

And I didn't realise you weren't on my blogroll. Please consider that amended.

My wife got me a subscription... it starts with #350.

Nice catch.

Just flicking through the white dwarf now, yes the UK ones are printed in poland, there must be some people still there after all (their not all in the UK... yet)

Be quite a cool diorama model, model stormtroopers jumping out w/ parachutes... or to their death... or both which is usually whay happens to guard players (no offence)

The question will still be affordability. The general populace has become so skilled with scratchbuilding these things, I wonder what the point was in bringing them out. I suppose it is a good market for it, but you know this puppy is going to cost at least $45. I've seen people built entire squadrons for less than $20 in material.

Hate to be a kill joy but I'm nto sure it is, comparte it to the FW model and it looks to me to be identical, while I'd imagien they will be similar I doubt they'll be this similar.

The photo caption reads " exclusive look at the brand new plastic Valkyrie, in the Codex for the 1st time"

Col.Gravis said...

It does? Yikes, I really cant spot any differences between the two models in that case.

The big stuff is Apoc only, no?

I'd probably just pass then. Looks pretty though!

@John@Plastic Legions - Any chance of a photo of the page from WD for context?

@Felix - The Valkyrie will be in the new IG Codex as a Transport(Skimmer).

nice find.

and thanks for the loading of the pic. Australia gets its issues a month after everyone else, so it is a fair way off for me. Why we are a month behind in the issues is just silly when we can see everything from the mag a month in advance through the web...

looks good, thanks for posting. I agree it does look like the Forgeworld kit...Which is a good thing, as it means the quality is going to be way up there. Not that I was really expecting anything less. Looks like I'm going to have to start an Imp. Guard force...

Oh Brother. This thing may get me to play 40k again. Nice model.

Great looking model, appreciate you putting it out there for us to drool over.

I'm surprised to see them being loyal to the resin version. It looks to be an exact copy of the Forge World model, which I can imagine will reduce sales somewhat.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for posting this. I'm sorry you've been flamed for it. I stuck up for you on Warseer, when folks started speculating that it was the FW one the day it was posted.

I really appreciate you sharing this, and I for one, am totally psyched up. Thanks again.

Thanks Nathan, appreciate it...
The controversy over the photo is somewhat mind-numbing because whether or nor its actually the FW or new plastic kit in the photo is somewhat irrelevant as far the "news" goes - plastic Valkyrie is confirmed with a May release.

Don't listen to the nay sayers, job well done and keep up the good work!

The sprues for the Valk are now on BOLS, so all the naysayers can put their manners back in.

This was a great find and I am very glad it got put online.

guys, i went into GW and asked one of the staff about this, and he said that this is defiantly a GW model, it will be £25!!!!!!!! (only £25, i went crazy!!!) and will be released with the rest of the imperial guard models and codex. I would trust this staff member as i checked with the manager as well. i hope i have enlightened u all :P and a reply to the keen scratch builder, this will defiantly sell a lot, as u have to be a very good craftsman to scratch built a Valkyrie, although it can be done and is very cheap. again, £25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, a lot of the newer 40K models, the Cadian shock troops for example, were originally designed and built by Froge World. It's not surprising that the plastic Valkyrie looks like the FW one. Why GW is putting one out is beyond me though. It has little value in games, unless you have a drop troop regiment or an Inquisitorial army. Technically, not many Valkyries make it past these two groups.

From what I've seen we see a whole load of sneak peeks in White Dwarf and various GW books (I'm thinking apocalypse here).

In the apocalypse rule book there were pictures of what looks just about identical to the Ork Stompa model about a year before release.

GW said the model was in development for a long time and this shows that they do show models before release just like this post says.

The Valkyrie looks excellent. Where can you purchase the model? I would like to put it and your site on my Model blog.

Thanks,
